BOLDest AR for our Museum AR project
The VIEWAR team implemented the world’s largest AR indoor navigation at the Technical Museum of Vienna. Above all, a museum visitor usually want to learn as much as possible about objects and exhibitions. However, often they might need a little help finding their way around or navigating the quickest way possible.
Using the museum app, visitors can choose one or more destinations and the VIEWAR system will guide them to the destination. For example, to start a tour, the user films the area around him with a smartphone to enable the positioning. Subsequently, an animated 3D guide will show up on the display and guide the user towards the chosen destination. Once at the Point of Interest the app offers more information for interaction. In conclusion, AR helps visitors create a customized tour or use already existing tours. For instance, they can now find their way through various exhibitions and objects of the museum. Furthermore, with augmented reality, interactive content can also be offered at the point of interest.
